Amsterdam Arrests: Terrorism Trial Run for Yemeni Men?

Were the two U.S. residents of Yemeni origin who were arrested upon landing in Amsterdam on Monday tripped up amid a trial run for a Terrorism attack? Or was their apprehension a belated reaction by airline and airport authorities to behavior in Chicago and Alabama that, while strange, was ultimately innocent?

Lawyer says Yemeni suspect denies terror link

THE HAGUE, Netherlands – The lawyer for one of the two Yemenis being held by Dutch authorities amid fears they were conducting a test run for a terror attack says his client denies any involvement in Terrorism and was just planning to visit his family.

Attorney Wouter Hendrickx says his client Ahmed Mohamed Nasser al Soofi "is in shock" after being arrested Monday by Dutch airport police as he arrived on a flight from Chicago.

18 nations wrap up mock terror exercise in Panama canal

PANAMA CITY (AFP) – Eighteen nations on Friday wrapped up nearly two weeks of military exercises to defend the Panama Canal from mock terrorist attacks and other threats, the US Southern Command chief said.

Sponsored by the United States, Panama and Chile -- the three top users of the canal -- the exercises began annually in 2002 and are key in safeguarding global and regional shipping lanes, General Douglas Fraser told a press conference.

New York imam: Politics behind mosque opposition
